Quinoa produced in Portugal

QPT Quinoa Portuguesa arises from the dream of four friends to produce, on Portuguese soil, one of the known foods with the greatest nutritional value. After several attempts that fell to the ground, they found in Barcelos the perfect conditions for the first production of Portuguese Quinoa.

Portuguese Quinoa is a 100% unadulterated natural product, containing no extra process that adulterates the original product.

our main objective is to provide the consumer with a national product, with excellent nutritional value, at a more accessible value, contributing to a healthier lifestyle.”

> Nutritional benefits

Rich in protein, Quinoa contains all the essential amino acids that our bodies need.

Quinoa is one of the only plant foods that provides complete proteins, containing all the essential amino acids for a healthy balance in the body. These amino acids are not produced by the body, they are obtained only through food, which makes Quinoa a food of high biological value.

Protein plays an important role in the formation of muscles and in maintaining the health of muscle tissue, with the function of repairing the micro injuries that normally occur in the muscles when we practice some intense physical activity.

Quinoa does not contain gluten.

Because it does not contain gluten, Quinoa is an excellent substitute for cereals, such as wheat for example. This characteristic makes Quinoa a suitable food for children and babies.

Consumption of Quinoa can help reduce cholesterol.

The amount of fiber contained in 100g of Quinoa can help lower cholesterol levels. The fibers help in the digestion of bile acids that are made, in part, of cholesterol, potentiating the reduction of the so-called “bad” cholesterol.

By providing healthy heart fat, like omega 3 and 6, Quinoa becomes a strong ally in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

As a complement to a balanced diet, Quinoa can help with weight loss

Because it is rich in protein and has a large amount of fiber, it is recommended that the consumption of Quinoa be incorporated into a balanced diet. Thus, its consumption can increase metabolism, help reduce appetite and increase the feeling of satiety.

Quinoa consumption is recommended for sportspeople.

According to data from the World Health Organization, Quinoa presents amounts of protein similar to milk, helping in the formation of muscle mass, when combined with physical activity.

Quinoa has powerful antioxidants.

Despite having vitamins C and E, powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatories, it is not for these nutrients that it is recognized. Quinoa stands out for being an important source of B vitamins – namely vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6 – which are an essential part for the proper functioning of our nervous system and for muscle maintenance.

Quinoa has a low glycemic index, making it suitable for diabetics.

The glycemic index of Quinoa, that is, the way in which its consumption increases blood sugar levels, is low. Therefore, Quinoa is digested more slowly by our body, being indicated for diabetics because it does not cause sudden changes in the blood sugar index.
